HELP! Laptop Problems! windows 7..Restoring Files and such..?

(go to last sentence if you don't want to hear full story)Okay, i was just looking at the internet and bam something comes up saying that i need to restart my laptop and something about the hard drive, so i did and i expected it to be all gone and it was just a little glitch and then when i log back on a couple of pages saying i have trojans and 6 critical things i need to attend to when i tried to clear it up it kept saying i needed the premium package to do it, i think it was the windows repair thing.. i already payed for a mcafee security thing so i wasn't going to pay �89.99 for another package! (the mcafee said everything was fine, clearly wasn't, norton is so much better) so yeah i tried restarting it like 3 times but same thing all the time, i tried to send some to my email so i would lose some documents but everything my start menu had gone:O all my files and everything, i had lost about 8 hours of research in about 20 minutes, believe me im gutted, everything was on my laptop. so i decided to make a new account to log onto, and i tried making it the administer but i had to be on the administers account to change it and on that account there was nothing there so i had no choice but to delete that account, i now realize how stupid it was as i only have basic files on my new account, nothing i had on my other one, i had all the microsoft stuff (which cost a lot!) and some games i payed for, general stuff like move maker and stuff, there is barely anything left. i have a backup disk which i made when i first got my laptop like 2 years ago, but i cant access any of the stuff, any way i could? down to the point is there any way of restoring those files so where? so how? help would be very appreciated.
