Why is McAfee Real Time scanning turning off repeatedly?

I have a Net Book with McAfee AntiVirus Plus. Today, the internet suddenly shut off on only the Net Book and McAfee Treal-Time Scanning turns itself off immediately after I turn it on. How do I fix this?
