Why is my ping so high?

Ping is how much time it takes to send a control to the server, for it to process it, and send verification(movement, head shot, whatever) to your computer. Ping really cant be fixed, the only thing that could help is plugging directly into the modem and don't use the router, slows things down like 50 m/s. Ive tryd everything, a better internet connection does the trick.
