How do I remove Vista Security 2012 from my computer?

I've spent all morning dealing with Vista Security 2012, which left my computer unable to do anything. McAfee did not detect it as any type threat, but it kept me from opening up IE, iTunes, Word, and basically anything else. I am pretty sure I tracked the problem down to a file: dtw.exe. The file was just created today, and seemed to have no other purpose. I went ahead and deleted the file (it is still in my recycling bin). I just want to make sure that just deleting this file isn't going to create some harm down the road. So far everything seems to be back to normal. Should I go ahead and permanently delete it? Should I have a professional look at this or install some type of program to fully fix the issue? Thanks for your help!
